Best Friends

We sat down in the chapel on Sunday.  Steve and Robby came in shortly after us and sat on the other end of the bench.  When Robby and James saw each other they started yelling each others name, giggling and running to each other.  It was cute and funny, but the parents were also trying to get our boys to be reverent.

I am so glad they can be buddies.  Here are a few recent pictures of them playing.

Right before this picture, James was spinning Robby in the rocking chair.  Then he climbed up to sit with Robby.

Birthday Boy

We celebrated James's birthday last night.  We had dinner with our good friends the Carters and Tollers.  When he realized what was under the wrapping paper, he was really excited to open more presents.  He got some more cars and a Woody action figure (not a doll for boys, right?) from his Grandma and Grandpa Felt, Legos from Mom and Dad, and a Nerf dart gun from Robby (and Steve and Jenni).  He loves all his gifts equally and is very excited to play with them all. 

Then it was time for cake.  It was almost a repeat from last year.  Robby loved the cake, so we were giving him James's piece.  Then James decided to taste it, and he really liked it.

TWO YEARS!

Interview in Indianapolis, IN

Jon interviewed in Indianapolis, IN on the 23rd.  James and I were able to go along and visit some friends who moved away from Toledo earlier in the year.  A side from not getting much sleep, we had a lot of fun.  The hotel was really nice, but James would not sleep when he could see his parents.

Interviews in Columbus, OH, Louisville, KY, and Cincinnati, OH

We were all glad for Jon to come home from his most recent interview trip.  Jon seems to be getting a little burnt out of traveling the country, but he is about half-way done.

Jon had a nice time in his current visits.  He stayed in some really nice hotels and ate some amazing food.  Sadly he left his electric razor at one of the hotels, but luckily he had also started using a strait razor occasionally, so he is still able to shave.

Jon has decided a medium sized program is what he likes best.  Currently, we have a tie for our favorite program.  When all the interviewing is done, we will have to look at the programs and cities closer to figure out how we will rank them.

Interview in Ann Arbor, MI

Jon interviewed in Ann Arbor, MI yesterday.  He seemed to like it there.  I went with him to the dinner the night before.  It was at a residents house, and they had Mediterranean Food (seems to be big in this area right now).  There were quite a few people there.  Most of the residents who were there were MedPeds (or doing Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the same time), which was a little disappointing.  It was interesting that we found ourselves talking to a resident who is also a member of the same religion as us.  We were able to talk about the wards and stake in the area, and stuff along those lines.

Turf War?

Jon was able to join us at the zoo last week.  We had some fun.  The weather was beautiful and the zoo was really busy.  We saw this.

Weird looking penguins!  Jon wondered why the penguins were not defending their turf?  Maybe it is because the penguins are rarely in the water, so they could care less if a few ducks take it over.

Interviews in Iowa City, IA, Milwaukee, WI, and Springfield, IL

Jon got back Wednesday after being gone for the four days doing interviews in the "Chicago area."  He did a lot of driving.  He started in Iowa City, IA, then went to Milwaukee, WI, and ended in Springfield, IL.  It was a very tiring trip, but Jon was able to see the differences in a large, medium, and small program.  He was put up in some nice hotels, had some good food, and was given lots of gifts including this box of chocolates that look like polished rocks.

This next week Jon will have four interviews!  They will not be as far from home.  We are enjoying this process of checking out residencies and finding the one we like best.  It is hard to have Jon gone so much though.
