Cleaning Project

Saturday, I made a major accomplishment in getting settled in Toledo. I organized our storage unit and added some more things to it from our spare bedroom. The floor is now visible! I did have to stack boxes clear to the ceiling. It was amazing how much I was able to get in there. I just hope they don't fall.


Now we are a huge step closer to having a room for anyone who wants to com visit us. It looks a lot better. Tomorrow, I am going to hang pictures on the wall and go through the last few boxes. Maybe some day I can get Jon to finish his last mission box. It was the box that did not survive the move. Everything inside seems to be okay, but the box was flat. I just need Jon to put it all in a new box and it can go in the storage until. I believe there is enough room for one more box.

College Football Pick'em

I realized I hadn't blogged much recently. I have been sick with a sinus infection. It has really done me in, but I am slowly getting better.

So a bunch of guys from the ward decided to put together a group in the College Football Pick'em with Yahoo. They invited Jon to join and since I like to watch college football as much as Jon does (which is a lot), he invited me to join too. It has been really fun. This last week, Jon and I had the number one and number two picks for the week and it moved me in the lead over all.

The wives keep talking about how they should go out to the new mall when it opens while their husbands watch football, but I would much rather watch football then go shopping.

Tuesday night, we were able to get our data off our hard drive and we found out Jon did really well on his second exam, so we decided to celebrate. Jon want to see if there was a German restaurant in Toledo. We loved "Seigfried's" in Salt Lake City, and wanted to see if there was anything like that in our new home. We found a German/Mexican restaurant, "Arturo's Fritz & Alfredo's". Talk about a weird mix, but after seeing it we decided we had to check it out. It is a Mexican restaurant. They served us chips and salsa, but there was German food on the menu. The German food was not too bad. We had Jaeger Schitzel with Spaetzle. "Seigfried's" is way better, but it is nice to know that there is something out here. It's a miracle!

Jon was able to retrieve all our data off our broken hard drive. We have all our pictures, music, and files! Thanks to Brian, Jon's brother, for talking him through the process. I was praying very hard the hole time for it to work and it did. Now we are saying many prays of thanksgiving. No one thought it would be possible to get that data back. I knew that it would be possible through the help of Heavenly Father. Anything is possible for him. Sorry Doug and Deana, but there is no denying the help of our Father in Heaven in this.

Does any one remember "Perfect Strangers" with Balki Bartokomous? Well, when it worked I asked Jon if we needed to do the happy dance that Balki always did. Jon laughed.

This picture is being past around the blogs in the ward. I am in it so I thought I should post it on my blog too. Twice a week we have a walking group in the ward as an Enrichment Activity. The other days of the week some of us from the ward will go to as an unofficial walking group. This is one of the official walking groups. I'm the only adult with out a stroller.

And Another One Bites the Dust!

Today when Jon and I got back from an apartment/ward barbecue, I took out the trash. When I got back sitting in front of the garbage can was a huge hobo. Luckily, we had bought a can of bug killer. I sprayed it first, then squished it. The spray slowed it down. I just hope it was the one we had seen in our couch about a week ago. Another one gone, but this one was twice as big as the last one.

New Hard Drive

Wednesday morning, our computer would not turn on. Through some phone calls, we found out that we had lost our hard drive.

Luckily, we discovered that our computer is still under warranty. We got a new hard drive installed for free. Now we have to reinstall everything, and see if there is any way to get our data off the other hard drive. We hope and pray that we can get it off. Otherwise, we have lost a lot of years of files, pictures, and music.

If anyone out there does not have a back up for there hard drive, I would highly recommend that you get one! If you do have one, when was the last time you backed up your data? Learn from our hardship. It has been a mess.

No Computer

Just to let everyone know our computer is not working right now. It will be fixed soon and I will then post a better explanation.

Toledo Museum of Art

For Jon's class, he gets extra credit for going to the Museum here in Toledo and taking a tour, so Friday night, Jon and I went and got a little bit cultured. It was a good experience, but we decided we need to go back. With the tour, we spent a lot of time on just a few of the pieces. Our tour guide wanted us to evaluate each work of art and talk. Here are two of the about 10 pieces we looked at:

This one is a Dutch painting called the Allegory of Vanity by Jan Miense Molenaer. It was done in the 1600s.

This is a sculpture done in Africa. It is actually a Helmet Mask done in the 19th to early 20th century. It is called Mother of Twins. Twins are actually more common in Africa then anywhere else.

It was good to get that side of art, but it would have been nice to see more. There are multiple levels of the museum, with a cafe, store, and of course loads of art.

There is also currently an Andy Warhol exhibit, but Jon and I decided we were not really into Warhol.

Tornado in Utah.

Jon's family just emailed us and apparently they had a tornado hit in Stanbury Park, Utah. That is where Jon's parents, and two brothers and family are right now. We were living there just over a month ago check out these pictures at:

Some pictures from Alaska

So I decided to post some of our pictures from our Alaska trip back in 2005 when I graduated from BYU. Jon and I would love to go back there again some day. Whether it is to live or to visit. There are some that think we are crazy, but maybe these pictures will show everyone how beautiful it is and that it is not alway cold. Jon and I were sunburned in the 90 degree heat the first day we were there. It is beautiful!!!!

The First Exam is Complete!

Though it really wasn't that bad, the first exam is done. It covered 2 full weeks of lectures, comprising 3 questions per hour of lecture plus 24 questions from our histology lab for a total of 144 questions.

The best thing, is it was done at 11:30 this morning and we get the rest of the day off, with absolutely nothing we have to do. I consider it a little vacation!

The new set of material is only 1 inch thick (compared to the 2.5-3 inches for this test) and will be tested in a week and a half.

Kidney Stones Again?

Well, I passed yet another kidney stone on Sunday. Jon said he thinks it was a bigger one, because of how sore my right kidney is today. Luckily, I took some of the prescribed pain killer in time and it didn't really hurt while it was passing. Otherwise it would have been a awful Sunday.

I have been told by a few people that have done both that kidney stones are worse than giving birth. I cannot compare the two, but hope that it is true. One lady told me she had just given birth to twins when she had her first kidney stone and she said the kidney stone was worse.

Nursery went really well. Jon said it was better this week then it has been. I was luck also in that I didn't start passing the stone until church was over. That would have made for a hard time in Nursery.

BYU Wins Their Season Opener!

BYU won!!!!!!! We had a few people over from the ward to watch the game with us it should have been a shut out, but at the end of the game Arizona scored. The final score was BYU: 20, Arizona: 7. It is a glorious day and a good start to the season. Here are some pictures from Sports Illustrated.
