More Stairs

One morning I left Jacob playing in the basement when I went to get James up.  This is what we found when we headed down to the basement.

Whenever I go upstairs for any length of time with Jacob still in the basement, I always find Jacob at the stairs.

Here he is trying to pull himself up on a second step.

It will not be long before he is climbing stairs.  Then we will have to figure out some gates.

New Eateries

Jon and I have been to a few new (to us) restaurants recently.  On the fourth, we had pizza from Gus's Original Stone Oven Eats.

Our pizza had ham, bacon (on half since I do not like it), pinapple, and mangos.  It was okay.  I hear that their ice cream is really good so we will have to try that some day soon.

We also tried Sheshco Mediterrian Grill.

It was good!  They has a garlic sauce that is amazing! And their bread was really good too.  We are definately going to have to eat their again.

This last one is not exactly new to us.  I have eaten there before, but Jon had not.  When we went car shopping (more on that soon, I hope), we stopped at Culver's.

I LOVE their onion rings!  This time we got their rootbeer.  It was amazing!  Better than at A&W restaurant.  It was really good! I would also like to try their frozen custard some day.

Independence Day

We had a good fourth.  It was pretty low key.  As is becoming our tradition, we went to the beach in the morning (it was 10:00) when most people are at parades or sleeping in or just not to the beach yet.  It is great to be on an uncrowded Lake Michigan beach! A good tradition to have while we live close to a nice beach.  Jon and I waded in the water a little. 

James was scared of it, which it not all bad.  It is pretty intense since it is such a big lake that you cannot see the other side.  It is a lot like the ocean, but not salt water.  James loved playing in the sand.

We made a small sand castle that would fill up with water with each wave through a tunnel in the bottom.  Jacob sat on a blanket for a little while.

He was a little cranky since it was his morning nap time.  Jon took Jacob out and put his feet in the water. 

Jacob did not like the water either.  James warmed up to the water about the time we were leaving. 

We ate McDonald's for lunch after we got home from the beach.  I tried to get James to throw some "Pop-it," but he was scared of them.  Maybe next year.  We had pizza for dinner since it was too hot to cook. Then, we went to bed before the fireworks.  James did watch the neighbors fireworks from his bedroom window.  I do not know how late he was up, but he talked about them the next morning.  I guess he felt safe watching them from his bedroom.

Preschool Check Up

Yesterday, James had his preschool check up with the doctor.  He is 40 inches tall and weighs 38 pounds.  The doctor was very impressed with James's knowledge of numbers, colors, letters, and shapes.  He said he is well developed for his age (regardless of what some members of our ward might think).   The doctor also said he is definitely ready for preschool.  Here are some of his favorite things.

If only, I could get him to want to sit on the toilet.  He is making a little progress in that direction.  The doctor said not to worry. He will when he is ready and then it will be quick.  I just hope it is before September so he really can go to preschool.

Here are the rest of the pictures I took in June. Jacob discovered graham crackers, and he loves them.

He is eating a chocolate graham cracker in the picture.  That is all I had at the time, but he also does like regular ones too.  James eating lunch and playing with my teddy bear.

Glad he likes my teddy bear too.  Happy Jacob.
