Jon and I went to Georgia this last weekend. Our friend, Steven Ziemer, was going down to help his mother move a family member. Since Sherri didn't want to go and bring all the kids, Steven asked Jon and I to go. It was so fun to go to help someone in need and see a place we had never been before. Since it was not a "vacation," we didn't see much. We did get to eat some great fried chicken and fried vegetables. I also got to try grits for the first time. We saw the Atlanta Temple and the Chattahoochee River, were labeled "Yankees," and almost picked up a southern drawl. It was 66 degrees and sunny. The perfect climate for a summer day.This is Georgia Red Clay. In my field, Georgia Clay is often used as the example of a Kaolinite soil. This means (in a very simplified definition) it is a soil that is very weathered mostly by water.

I finished my first 3,008 (I did the math to find out the exact number, since it is rarely the exact number that the box says) piece puzzle last night. I might have helped in a puzzle of this magnitude, but I have never done most of it by my self. Jon did put in some pieces, so it was a group effort. It took about 5 weeks, but there were times when I was sick of working on it and would go for days without touching it. I would say it took about 3 times as long as the 1,000 piece puzzles I did before Christmas. Thank you, Ziemers for leting me borrow this puzzle!

How long have you been together? We've been married almost 4 years (in May), but if you count when we started dating it has been just over four years (our first date was in November of 2003).
Who eats more? Through out the day, I do, but at one meal, he does.
Who sings better? He does. I just pretend that I can sing.
Who does the dishes? The dishwasher, but I normally wash the pans and sharp knives by hand.
Who mows the lawn? Well, we have never lived anywhere that we have had to mow the lawn before, but I imagine that I will since that is the kind of thing I like to do. When most girls were babysitting for money, I was mowing lawns instead.
Who is more stubborn? Definitely me. Jon is really laid back, but I am impossibly stubborn, and I know it. It's one of the things I am working on. Just let it go.
Who proposed? He did. See this 
Who has more siblings? It is a tie. We both come from families of 6 kids, but if you count sibling spouses, too, he has more since all his siblings are married.
Monday night, Jon and I had the pleasure of having the Ziemer children over to our place. Lindsay slept the whole time. Rachel followed me around and every time I sat down would sit on my lap. The whole time she was talking away. I've never seen her talk so much! Jared and Andrew played their games and watched movies, while we all ate popcorn and apples. Rachel and I also colored a little and were joined by Andrew to look out the sliding glass door trying to see the birds, which were hard to see as they blended into their background. It was a fun night.
